The view from my table saw.

So as though my desperate prayers had been temporarily answered, a week ago I was hired on for at least a couple of weeks with a company that I used to work for. Thank you, God. Hopefully this lasts.

It has, however, put a serious cramp in any time that I have had to hike or write, so I am attempting to evaluate my schedule and make time for these things. I am not complaining though. As much as getting out into the woods is important for me, and writing is something that is a sort of meditative therapy…it is really good to be working. Again, hopefully this lasts.

Poor Max has been forced to stay home while I am at work.

Patience is key, as I learn to keep up this thing that I have come to love. I will definitely be spending at least the weekends out in the woods, but I would love to hear what other people do to make time to write, while one’s schedule is full. Thank you for reading, and I will have a more “regular” post up as soon as I can.

  1. Gabe- that is great news! Hey, mountains, forests and valleys will remain the same…you will be hiking soon and appreciate it that much more. Good for you!

    • Thanks, Tony. It is good news, and it’s amazing how working can boost a person’s outlook. Going camping this weekend after an already rough (physically) beginning of the week, and it is going to feel so nice. Let me know when you figure out what dates you are going to be hiking, in case this becomes a more permanent gig, so I can give them some notice as to when I will be gone.

      • I will- it looks like late September, or early October. I have to see what commitments I have for school, but will give you an idea in the next couple of weeks.

  2. Congrats on the job, even if it’s temporary!

    • Thank you, and yes, temporary is definitely better than nothing. Plus if they keep getting work, the possibility for permanence is more likely. They are just really busy at the moment.
